AUSTIN, Texas - The San Diego State track and field team wrapped up competition at the NCAA West Prelims Saturday in Austin, Texas, with three Aztecs in action.

Kristen Brown, who yesterday punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., by taking 10th in the pole vault, almost made it 2-for-2 today in the 100-meter hurdles. Brown came in fifth in her heat and 15th overall (out of 24 entrants) with a time of 13.54 seconds. To advance to the NCAA semifinals in Eugene, however, she would have had to finish in the top three of her heat or be one of the next three-fastest finishers. Brown qualified for today's quarterfinals by finishing 16th in the first round yesterday in a wind-aided time of 13.35 seconds.

Simone Glenn also competed on the track for SDSU, placing eighth in her heat and 20th overall in the 200 meters with a time of 23.86. Similar to Brown, Glenn would have had to finish among the top three in her heat or have one of the next three-fastest times to advance to Eugene. She qualified for today's quarterfinals after taking 23rd in yesterday's first round in 23.76.

Jasmine Burrell was the only San Diego State athlete who competed in a field event day. A senior, Burrell ended her collegiate career by finishing 37th in the shot put with a heave of 47 feet, 10 inches (14.58m). The top-12 finishers today advanced to Eugene.

Brown will be the Aztecs' lone representative at the NCAA Championships in Eugene this year. The pole vault will be contested on Thursday, June 11 at 4:45 p.m. PT at historic Hayward Field.
