AUSTIN, Texas -
San Diego State began the NCAA Track and Field West Preliminary Round Thursday in Austin, Texas, as Simone Glenn and Micha Auzenne each competed in the 100-meter dash.
The first round of the 100 meters consisted of 48 runners, spread across six heats. The top-three finishers from each heat plus the next-six-fastest times advanced to Friday's quarterfinal round.
Both Glenn and Auzenne, however, failed to advance to the quarterfinals.
Competing in the first heat, Glenn finished seventh and 44th overall with a wind-aided time of 11.74 seconds. In heat No. 5, Auzenne came in seventh as well with a wind-aided clocking of 11.79, which ranked 46th on the day.
Oregon's Jasmine Todd ran the fastest time of the quarterfinals at 10.89 (wind-aided).
Auzenne and Glenn still have a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. (June 10-13), as Auzenne will run the 100 hurdles at 5 p.m. CT Friday and Glenn the 200 at 8 p.m. CT Friday.
Joining Auzenne and Glenn in action tomorrow include Jasmine Burrell and Alexa Evans in the discus throw (noon CT), Kristen Brown in the pole vault (1 p.m. CT) and the 100 hurdles (5 p.m. CT), and Bonnie Draxler, Kortney Ross and Holly Waseloff in the pole vault (1 p.m. CT).
