GRAND LAKE, Colo. - San Diego State senior defender Lauren Paul (Grasonville, Md.) has been selected to compete in the 2015 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) North-South All-Star game, the organization announced this week.
Chosen to represent the Aztecs on the North squad, Paul was one of 44 student-athletes invited to play in the Division I match at the annual event, which features the nation's outstanding seniors each spring. This year's IWLCA All-Star extravaganza will be held on Saturday, June 6 at Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa.
Paul, who helped SDSU to the first winning season in program history and second straight appearance in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament, received first-team all-conference recognition after setting a single-season Aztec record with 24 caused turnovers for an average of 1.41 per contest, which tied her for second in the MPSF. She also finished second out of the team's position players with 36 ground balls, including six in the regular-season finale against USC to establish a new school single-game standard.
Paul, who was also named to the MPSF all-tournament team earlier this month, completed her collegiate career ranked second on the Aztecs' all-time list with 102 ground balls and 58 caused turnovers.
San Diego State finished the 2015 season with a 9-8 overall record, marking the program's highest victory total since its inception in 2012. In addition, the Aztecs logged a team-record seven-game winning streak from Feb. 28-March 22nd, and started 4-0 in conference play for the first time in the squad's four-year history.
