San Diego State closed the two-day UCLA Legends of Track & Field Invitational with three individual wins and a relay victory Saturday in Los Angeles.
The Aztecs, who yesterday took first, second and third in the shot put, had winners today in the 200 meters, 100-meter hurdles and 4x100-meter relay on the track, and also in the pole vault.
On the track, Simone Glenn was victorious in the 200 with a time of 24.29 seconds, beating out 13 other entrants in the process. She also added a fifth-place showing in the 400 in 55.28.
Micha Auzenne had a busy, but successful day as well, capturing the 100 hurdles in 13.46 in an event that started with 15 hurdlers. She also came in fourth in the open 100 in 11.88 and teamed up with Kristen Brown, Glenn, and Jazmen Bunch in the winning 4x100 relay. SDSU's `A' team clocked a time of 45.19, which was just outside the school's all-time top-10 list.
Bonnie Draxler was the lone field event winner for San Diego State on Saturday, taking down the pole vault by clearing 13 feet, 5 ¾ inches (4.11 meters). The 13-05.75 was a season-best mark for the freshman. Draxler also ran the anchor leg of the fifth-place Aztec `B' 4x100 team, along with Starlynn Singleton, Tyra Lea and Kira Moreland, in a time of 47.01.
SDSU added six more top-five times on the track and five top-five marks in field events.
On the track, Bunch was third in the 200 in 24.63 and Lea took third in the 400 in 55.17. Madison Gipson logged a fourth-place time in the 400 hurdles (1:01.19), while Dynasty Gammage (2:12.14) and Ellison Grove (2:13.42) came in fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 800. Elaine Ribeiro added a fifth-place showing in the 1,500 in 4:39.10.
In the pole vault, Kristen Brown and Kortney Ross tied for third out of 16 entrants with a height of 13-01.75 (4.01m) and Jasmine Burrell took third in the shot put with a heave of 47-01.75 (14.37m), a day after winning the discus throw. Moreland long jumped to a fourth-place finish (17-09.50 (5.42m)) and Ariel Oliver took fifth in the shot put, posting the ninth-best mark in school history in the process of 46-09.50 (14.26m)).
San Diego State will compete at the same Drake Stadium next Saturday at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational, beginning at 10 a.m. PT with the hammer throw.
