AZUSA, Calif. - San Diego State's Sarah Haydock remains in the running after the first day of the California Invitational Heptathlon Wednesday in Azusa, Calif.
After four of the seven events, Haydock sits in 48th place out of the 50 original entrants with 2,201 points. Kaylon Eppinger of World Athletics leads with 3,670 points.
In the opening event of the two-day competition, Haydock came in 49th in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.66 seconds. Next up was the high jump where the senior tied for 40th with Chadron State's Sami Schmit at 4 feet, 11 inches (1.50 meters). In the shot put, Haydock again found herself neck-and-neck with Schmit and the two tied for 34th with a heave of 32-08.50 (9.97m). Ending the first day was the 200 meters, where Haydock came in 47th after posting a time of 29.34.
Former Aztec Allison Reaser is currently competing in the prestigious Mt. SAC heptathlon, representing the World Athletics Center. The San Diego State graduate finished day one in 14th overall out of 17 with 3,246 points. She was 12th in the 100 hurdles (14.13), tied for 16th in the high jump (5-03.25), 13th in the shot put (37-01.00) and 6th in the 200 meters (24.60).
Haydock's second day of competition begins at 8:30 a.m. PT Thursday with the long jump, followed by the javelin throw (10 a.m. PT) and ending with the 800 (1 p.m. PT). Results can be found at http://www.apu.edu/athletics/live/trackandfield/ and later on GoAztecs.com.
