SAN DIEGO - San Diego State men's basketball head coach Steve Fisher announced today that guard Kevin Zabo has decided to leave the program after one season on campus and transfer to a different school.
"Kevin Zabo has decided to transfer," Fisher said. "I have met with Kevin and talked to his dad, and as much as he has loved his experience at SDSU and his teammates, it is a great opportunity for him as a basketball player."
Zabo saw action in SDSU's first nine games and played 14.8 minutes while averaging 3.8 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.9 assists. During that span, he was 4-for-10 from three-point range.
Hailing from Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, and Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, Zabo finished his true freshman season by playing in 16 games. In 10.9 minutes per outing, he averaged 2.6 points, 1.0 rebounds and 0.6 assists.
"I want to thank Coach Fisher and the rest of the staff for giving me this great opportunity," Zabo said. "It was one of the hardest decisions I have made, but my family and I decided that it was best for me to move on."
