COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Five San Diego State divers were among 49 athletes competing on the 3-meter board during day one of the Zone E Meet hosted by the Air Force Academy on Colorado Springs, Colo. The top divers in the west representing the Pac-12, Big West and Mountain West conferences are vying to qualify for next week's NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Greensboro, N.C.
Aztec freshman Makena Chamoures was SDSU's top fisher as she placed 30th in the prelims with a score of 251.70. Two places behind her was teammate and fellow freshman Alexandra Caplan (32nd), who totaled 249.55 points for her six dives.
Another two places further back, finishing in 34th place, was the Aztec sophomore Isabelle Choquehuanca, who finished with 247.40 points.
In addition to that trio, freshman Nicole Dutton placed 41st with a score of 237.20 while sophomore Shannon Finigan was 46th with a mark of 229.15.
Action continues at the Zone E Meet on Tuesday (March 10) with the 1-meter springboard. Prelims get underway at 11:00 a.m. (MT) and finals are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. (MT).
