GREENSBORO, N.C. - San Diego State competed in three events during the Friday prelims at the 2015 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships being held at the Greensboro Aquatic center in Greensboro, N.C. No Aztec was able to advance to the evening finals session meaning SDSU would end the second day of the meet with the four team points it picked up on Thursday.
The Aztecs opened the morning session with the foursome of Anika Apostalon, Laura Day, Summer Harrison and Chelsea Bailey swimming in the 200 medley relay. Their time of 1:39.39 placed 28th overall.
Harrison later swam the 100 butterfly race and finished in 34th place with a time of 52.90, just .17 second off the school record mark she set at last month's Mountain West Championships.
SDSU also had a pair of swimmers compete in the 100 backstroke prelims. Bailey swam in the opening heat and her time of 56.18 placed her in the 48th spot. Apostalon's time of 53.12 meant that she would finish 30th in the prelims.
Action continues at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday with prelims beginning at 11:00 a.m. (ET) and finals at 7:00 p.m. (ET). San Diego State will compete in the 100 freestyle (Apostalon and Bailey) and 200 butterfly (Harrison) along with the 400 freestyle relay.
