NEW YORK -

The San Diego State track and field team had three top-10 finishers on the first day of the Armory Track Invitational Friday in New York.

Bonnie Draxler and Karen Snapper finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the pole vault, while Jasmine Burrell recorded a seventh-place finish in the shot put at the competitive meet, which features 71 collegiate teams. Draxler and Snapper each cleared 12 feet, 11 ½ inches (3.95m) in the pole vault to come in sixth and seventh out of 43 overall entrants.

Burrell came in seventh out of 55 with a toss of 47-07.00 (14.50m), while Ariel Oliver was in striking distance in 14th in 44-08.25 (13.62m).

Micha Auzenne led the Aztecs on the track as she advanced to the semifinals in both the 60-meter dash and 60 hurdles. Auzenne clocked a time of 7.70 seconds in the 60 prelims before finishing 27th in the semis in 7.72. In the 60 hurdles, Auzenne first ran an 8.60 in the prelims to place 11th out of 81 initial entrants. That time qualified her for the semifinals, where she took 14th in 8.64.

SDSU had two other runners get out of their respective heats in Jazmen Bunch and Madison Gipson. Bunch ran a 7.68 in the 60 prelims to finish 26th and improved to 25th in the semis in 7.63. Gipson, meanwhile, was 23rd in the prelims of the 60 hurdles in 8.84 and improved her time to 8.80 (22nd) in the semifinals.

Tyra Lea had a solid showing, taking 13th out of 96 entrants in the 400 in 56.03, which was just outside of the school's all-time top-10 list, while Ellison Grove came in 19th in the rarely run 500 (1:16.20).

San Diego State wraps up the Armory Track Invitational tomorrow, beginning with the 3K at 8:55 a.m. EST (5:55 a.m. PST).
