SAN DIEGO -
San Diego State women's soccer will play host to a Spring ID camp in early March. The camp is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, at SDSU Sports Deck and is open to any and all girls entering the eighth grade (2019 high school graduation year) and above. Registration is now open and costs $250.
The program is committed to providing a camp that is both instructional and informational along with creating a great atmosphere in which to learn. The Aztec coaching staff, which includes head coach Mike Friesen and associate head coach Juan Pablo Favero, is dedicated to the development and growth of soccer players of all ages and skill levels.
The camp offers an opportunity for players to receive valuable instruction on the fundamental skills of soccer. The coaching staff's goal is to provide a positive and instrumental learning experience for all campers in a structured, enthusiastic and fun environment.
Over the two-day camp, players will participate in training sessions, small-sided and 11v11 games and one sports psychology session. The camp is designed for players to get maximum exposure in front of SDSU coaches and is a great opportunity for players to be trained and evaluated by a staff that has won the last three Mountain West regular-season and tournament titles and gone to the NCAA tournament the last three seasons.
The first day of the camp will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday's session is set for 8:30 a.m.-noon. Players should bring a water bottle, soccer clothes (white club soccer uniform with a number is preferred), soccer shoes, shin guards and sun block.
There is also an additional in-depth sports psychology session, which has become a popular feature. Because of the nature and depth that Favero covers, the extra session is limited to the first 25 campers who sign up. This is in addition to the session that is included in the camp and is optional. The cost is $50.
The additional session will cover the all-important mental skill of developing the right mindset. It will stress the importance of mindset and the steps necessary to create a positive, optimistic and determined mindset ... the winner's mindset.
