FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The San Diego State swimming and diving team picked up wins over Colorado State (187.5-112.5) and Idaho (193.5-106.5) in a double dual meet at CSU's Moby Pool in Fort Collins, Colo., Saturday afternoon. With the victories the Aztecs improve to 9-0 on the season as they have now won 68 of their last 69 head-to-head meets.

The Aztecs captured first place in eight of the 14 swimming events as well as one of the diving competitions en route to the wins.

Natilee Ruiz and Anika Apostalon won two events apiece to pace the SDSU swimmers. Ruiz finished first in both the 200 freestyle (1:55.48) and 200 backstroke (2:02.36).

Apostalon took top spot in the 100 backstroke (55.64) and 100 freestyle (50.31). She was also a member of the 200 freestyle relay team along with Chelsea Bailey, Whitney Weisz and Maddy Dalcamo that won the event in 1:33.47.

San Diego State's other individual race winners included Bailey in the 50 freestyle (23.91), Frida Berggren in the 500 freestyle (5:08.77) and Summer Harrison in the 100 butterfly (56.31). Bailey actually shared first place in the 50 free with Colorado State's Katie Kicklighter who turned in an identical time.

SDSU also picked up valuable points during the meet with six second-place finshes in various events. Berggren took second in both the 200 butterfly (2:07.19) and 200 individual medley (2:06.76) while Bailey was runner-up in the 100 freestyle (51.84). Other second-place results were turned in by Dana Michaels in the 1000 freestyle (10:43.11), Cori Casper in the 500 freestyle (5:11.25) and Loreen Whitfield in the 100butterfly (56.77).

On the diving side, freshman Alex Caplan took first on the 1-meter board with a score of 284.45, a mark that ranks fifth on the SDSU all-time top 10 list. Caplan was second on the 3-meter board with a mark of 289.30. That score ranks eighth in program history. Both of Kaplan's scores qualified her for the Zone diving meet next March.

The Aztecs divers will next be action when they travel to USC for the Trojan Diving Invitational scheduled for Nov. 7-9 in Los Angeles. Up next for the SDSU swimmers is the annual Arena Invitational hosted by UC San Diego at East Los Angeles College Nov. 20-22.
