Oct. 4, 2014 SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team continued its stellar play on the second day of the SDSU Fall Invitational on Saturday at Aztec Tennis Center.

Aztec sophomores Jonas Meinzer (Buggingen, Germany) and Milen Ianakiev (Elz, Germany) won two singles matches apiece on Saturday, and will face each other in the Red Flight championship match on Sunday. Meinzer defeated Loyola Marymount's David Doehring, 7-6, 6-1, while Ianakiev topped University of San Diego's Geoffrey Fosso, 6-4, 7-6.

In the Black Flight, SDSU sophomore Saxon Buehning (Essex Fells, N.J.) dropped his semifinal match to USD's Alex Arouzos, 6-4, 6-4. Aztec freshman Santiago Cevallos (Querétaro, Mexico) continued play in the round-robin Third Flight, defeating UC San Diego's Andrew Maloszak, 6-0, 6-4 in Round 3, before falling to Arizona's Shoki Kasahara, 2-6, 6-2, 10-6, in Round 4.

In the doubles consolation bracket, the San Diego State duo of Cevallos and Meinzer knocked off Grand Canyon's team of Adrian Lagaretta and Phillip Kuehen, 8-4, and will meet UCSD's unit of Horea Porutiu and Alexandre Miaule in Sunday's consolation bracket championship. In addition, the Aztecs team of Buehning and Ianakiev earned a victory over UCSD's duo of Maloszak and Justin Zhang, 8-0.

Tournament play resumes on Sunday morning at Aztec Tennis Center.
