SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State track and field team will play host to its annual Red-Black Intrasquad and All-Comers Meet on Saturday, Dec. 6 on the Aztrack Sports Deck. The meet, which kicks off a 10 a.m. PT, will once again be the second in the 2014-15 San Diego Track Club Winter Track Classic Series.

The pole vault, high jump and shot put (each men, then women) will start the meet at 10 a.m. PT, while the running events get underway at 10:30 a.m. PT with the women's 4x200-meter relay. The rest of the events will follow in a rolling schedule with the men's 4x400-meter relay closing the day at approximately 1:15 p.m. PT.

The Dec. 6 Red-Black Meet will be USA Track and Field (USATF) sanctioned for the fourth consecutive year, allowing youth, high school, junior college, university (including SDSU students), alumni and master competitors of all ages and ability to participate in an unattached basis.

The annual meet serves as a competition that splits the Aztecs into "red" and "black" teams who compete against each other in a dual-meet fashion. Competition routinely goes down to the wire and is often decided by the relay, which includes the coaches, at the end of the meet.

"The Red-Black meet is our official kick off into the winter track season," SDSU head coach Shelia Burrell said. "We are prepping to try and take back the Mountain West indoor championship and try for a three-peat at the outdoor championships, which will be right here in San Diego on our home track. I'm excited to showcase this year's team to the San Diego track and field community, the Aztec student body and our alumni at this event, all of whom are welcome to compete with us side-by-side."

The Red-Black meet uses fully automatic timing (FAT) with wind readings for both sprints and horizontal jumps. All throwers must bring their own implements.

This year's meet will feature online registration, which costs $10 (payable by credit card) and covers unlimited events. Registration will also be available the day of the event for $12, payable by cash or check, and also covers unlimited events. Proceeds from the meet will benefit the SDSU track and field/cross country programs.

Online registration closes on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at midnight PT. To register, click on the DirectAthletics link below or at the top of the page.
