SDSU Preseason Accolades

San Diego State has been picked to win the Mountain West in 2014-15, according to Lindy's Sports. The publication also has the Aztecs advancing to the NCAA tournament for the sixth straight season.

Junior Winston Shepard is Lindy's preseason Mountain West Player of the Year and a first-team all-league selection. The 6-8 forward from Houston, Texas, was also ranked No. 4 on the Top Small Forwards list in the publication.

Senior Dwayne Polee II made the magazine's preseason all-league second team. Junior Skylar Spencer, meanwhile, was ranked No. 25 on Lindy's Top Centers list and was a third-team all-league selection. On the newcomer front, Trey Kell, the St. Augustine graduate and 6-foot-4 shooting guard, is ranked No. 42 on the publication's Top 100 Incoming Freshmen list. Joining the Kell is Zylan Cheatham (No. 100), Kevin Zabo and Malik Pope, who together make up the Lindy's No. 23 recruiting class.

The Aztecs, who finished the 2013-14 campaign with a 31-5 record, are coming off their sixth straight season with at least 25 victories and their fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. San Diego State is slated to return three of its five starters from last season who contributed to their Sweet 16 appearance as well as welcoming one of the top recruiting classes to begin the 2014-15 season.
