San Diego - With the NFL opening weekend upon us, San Diego State has eight former Aztecs on active 53-man rosters throughout the league, with two others on practice squads and two more on injured reserve.

Tight end Gavin Escobar (Dallas Cowboys), long snapper Aaron Brewer (Denver Broncos), running back Ronnie Hillman (Denver Broncos), guard Lance Louis (Indianapolis Colts), safety Nat Berhe (New York Giants), cornerback Leon McFadden (New York Jets), linebacker Miles Burris (Oakland Raiders) and wide receiver Brice Butler (Oakland Raiders) will each be active on either Sunday or Monday night.

In addition, wide receiver Colin Lockett (Cincinnati Bengals) and quarterback Ryan Lindley (San Diego Chargers) are currently on practice squads, while linebacker Heath Farwell (Seattle Seahawks) is on injured reserve and defensive back Eric Pinkins (Seattle Seahawks) is on the reserve/non-football injury/illness list.

The Mountain West has 76 players on active 53-man rosters for this weekend, and is represented on 27 of the league's 32 teams. SDSU ranks fourth in the conference with eight players.

San Diego State has advanced to a school-record four consecutive bowl games and is one of only 29 schools in the nation, and one of just two schools in the state of California, to advance to bowl games following each of the last four seasons.
