Aztec Story Lines
- The No. 27 San Diego State men's soccer team will play its final two non-conference matches of the season over the next seven days, as the Aztecs head north to face UC Santa Barbara on Friday, Sept. 26, beginning at 7 p.m. PT, before returning home to play host to Point Loma on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. PT. Live stats for both matches will be available at GoAztecs.com.

- SDSU (5-2) lost a heartbreaker in overtime at Florida International on Friday, 2-1, after leading for the first 84 minutes of the match. Freshman David Olsen (Fircrest, Wash.) scored the Aztecs' goal in the 40th minute to put San Diego State ahead, 1-0, but FIU knotted the score on a header in the 85th minute before scoring the Golden Goal late in the 98th minute.

- Despite the loss, SDSU is still ranked 27th in the College Soccer News Top 30 Poll. Five Pac-12 teams are currently ranked in this week's NSCAA top 25, as No. 1 UCLA, No. 6 Washington, No. 15 California, No. 19 Stanford and No. 24 Oregon State each earned spots. It is the most teams the conference has had in the top 25 this season, as Pac-12 teams went a combined 9-1 last week.

- Olsen's first-half goal against FIU was his team-leading fifth score of the season, as he's tied with sophomore Forrayah Bass (Leeds, England) with a team-high 10 points. The freshman is tied for second in the Pac-12 and 10th in the nation in goals scored, while he and Bass are tied for fifth in the conference and 25th in the country in points.

- Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Adam Allmaras (Carlsbad, Calif.) recorded a season-high 11 saves against FIU, which is a Pac-12 season high. Allmaras is now tied for second in the conference with 19 saves this season, while his two shutouts are tied for second most in the Pac-12.

- Bass leads the Aztecs with 10 points on three goals and a team-high four assists this season. Prior to Friday's loss at FIU, the forward had recorded a point in each match he's appeared in, and tallied at least two points in three-straight matches. The sophomore is tied for third in the Pac-12 in assists and tied for second with two game-winning goals.

- Friday will be San Diego State's final non-conference road match of the 2014 season, as the Aztecs have fared well away from Montezuma Road in recent seasons. Since 2010, SDSU is 9-6-2 in non-conference road or neutral-site matches. The Aztecs went 2-2 in non-conference matches away from home in 2013, including overtime losses at No. 7 Akron and at Denver, each of which went on to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

- The Aztecs have outscored opponents this season, 13-9, and have thoroughly outshot the opposition by a wide margin of 99-77. Prior to Friday's loss, SDSU had won four-straight matches in September, four straight following a victory, seven straight when scoring first, three in a row when leading at halftime, eight in a row when leading at any point in a match and four straight in matches decided by one goal. In addition, SDSU ranks third in the Pac-12 in goals scored (13) and third in shots (99).

- Friday will be the Aztecs' 34th meeting against the Gauchos, with San Diego State leading the all-time series 18-12-3. The two teams last played in 2009, when SDSU defeated No. 6-ranked UCSB, 4-2, in the Nike Aztec Soccer Classic. The Aztecs are 71-59-18 all-time in matches against current members of the Big West Conference, with their last victory coming against CSU Fullerton, 4-1, in 2010. San Diego State is 12-1-1 all-time against Point Loma, including a convincing victory over the Sea Lions, 4-0, in 2012.

No. --/--/rv UC Santa Barbara
The Gauchos enter Friday's match with a 2-3-1 overall record after falling to No. 1 UCLA, 1-0, at home on Saturday. UCSB, which is receiving votes in the College Soccer News top 30, was unanimously selected to win the Big West North Division in the preseason coaches poll after finishing 12-6-3 (7-0-3 Big West) in 2013, and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Gauchos return six starters from a team that earned a No. 10-seed in last year's NCAA Tournament, which was UCSB's best seed in program history. Sophomore midfielder Ismaila Jome was named to the preseason all-conference team, in addition to earning preseason All-American honors and landing on the MAC Hermann Award Watch List. Jome was named 2013 Big West Freshman of the Year after recording two goals and seven assists. The Gauchos are coached by Tim Vom Steeg, who is in his 16th season. Vom Steeg earned his fourth Big West Coach of the Year honor last season, and led UCSB to its first-ever national championship in 2006. Previously, Vom Steeg was the head coach at Santa Barbara City College and played his college soccer at UCSB.

Point Loma
The Sea Lions are currently 0-3-1 overall as they prepare to take on Cal Poly Pomona on Sept. 23 before a PacWest matchup against Azusa Pacific on Sept. 27. In 2013, Point Loma went 7-8-3 with a 5-4-3 mark in conference play. The Sea Lions were picked to finish fifth in the preseason PacWest coaches poll, while Phil Wolf was selected as preseason coach of the year and Daniel ten Bosch was voted to the all-PacWest team. Point Loma returns a total of 16 letterwinners from 2013, including second-team selections ten Bosch and Nico Tagaloa, while Tyler Allen was named to the third team. Wolf is in his third season as head coach after serving as lead assistant coach at SMU for three seasons and head coach at Azusa Pacific for eight seasons, where he led the Cougars to the NAIA national championship in 2007.
