MARBURG, Germany - San Diego State senior track and field athlete Allison Reaser (El Segundo, Calif.) finished ninth overall in the 2014 Thorpe Cup heptathlon over the weekend in Germany. In women's competition, team USA's 17,954 total points defeated Germany's final total of 17,206.
Reaser tallied 5,591 total points, posting a time of 13.77-seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, a clearance of 5-feet, 3.8-inches (1.62 meters) in the high jump, a mark of 36-11.31 (11.26 meters) in the shot put and a time of 24.29 in the 200 during the first day of competition on Saturday.
Reaser, the 2014 NCAA hepathlon runner-up, was also impressive in the second day of events, recording a mark of 19-1.53 (5.83 meters) in the long jump, a throw of 111-8.55 (34.05 meters) in the javelin and a time of 2:14.19-seconds in the 800 to conclude the event.
The Thorpe Cup is an international multi-event competition between the United States and Germany that is made up of seven women and seven men on each side. The top-three women's heptathlon scores were added to determine the overall winners.
In addition to her second-place finish in the heptathlon during the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in June, Reaser took seventh place in the heptathlon at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships late last month with a personal-record 5,917 points. The El Segundo, Calif., native is also a three-time first-team Outdoor USTFCCCA All-American, and a three-time MW Outdoor champion in the event.
