San Diego State's Allison Reaser is in fifth place after the first day of the heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Thursday in Eugene, Ore.

With four of the seven events completed, Reaser has totaled 3,388 points, while Georgia's Kendell Willams is leading with 3,685 points. Nine other athletes are within 100 points of Reaser, however, including Penn State's Brittney Howell (3,474) and Florida's Brittany Harrell (3,427) in third and fourth, respectively. Trailing Reaser are Utah State's Chari Hawkins (sixth, 3,375), Arkansas' Alex Gochenour (seventh, 3,367), Wisconsin's Georgia Ellenwood (eighth, 3,351), Georgia's Quintunya Chapman (ninth, 3,349), Montana's Lindsey Hall (10th, 3,317), North Carolina's Xenia Rahn (11th, 3,307) and Eastern Michigan's Sarah Chauchard (12th, 3,305).

Reaser started the day in style, taking second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.38 seconds. She was then 20th in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 3 inches (1.60 meters), before taking ninth in the shot put (39-04.00 (11.99m)) and fourth in the 200 (24.60).

Nicole Oudenaarden also competed in the heptathlon. She opened with a 22nd-place showing in the 100 hurdles in 14.77, but was unable to make a height in the high jump and dropped out of the competition.

The second day of the heptathlon begins at 12:30 p.m. PT Friday with the long jump, followed by the javelin throw (1:45 p.m. PT) and 800 (4:50 p.m. PT).

In the discus throw, Jasmine Burrell came in 18th with a toss of 159-10 (48.72m). Competing in her first-ever NCAA Championships, Burrell posted throws of 155-02 (47.29m), 152-02 (46.39m) and 159-10 (48.72m). She would have had to finish among the top nine to advance to the finals and earned three more throws. Texas A&M's Shelbi Vaughan won the event with a heave of 196-11 (60.02m).

Kristen Brown and Shanieka Thomas are also competing tomorrow. Brown is slated to start the pole vault at 3:15 p.m. PT, where she has the 18th-best mark going into the meet. Thomas, who has won each of the past two triple jump competitions at the NCAA Championships (2014 indoor, 2013 outdoor) and is seeded second this year, gets going with the event at 3:25 p.m. PT.
