LARAMIE, Wyo. - Three Aztecs won individual events on the final day of the Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships to give No. 18 San Diego State its second consecutive league title Saturday in Laramie, Wyo.

SDSU, which led after each day of the championship meet, finished with 144 points, 20 ahead of runner-up New Mexico (124). Colorado State (94.5), host Wyoming (94) and Boise State (90.5) rounded out the top five.

Nicole Oudenaarden was named the meet's Women's Outstanding Performer of the Meet, while head coach Shelia Burrell was honored as the Women's Coach of the Year.

"We weren't the biggest team in terms of numbers, but I told our athletes that we were the best if we could execute," Shelia Burrell said. "Battling in the rain, hail and all types of weather, and not quitting is a testament to the character of the Aztecs. I was really impressed with how we competed as a team."

Kristen Brown, Shanieka Thomas and Meritzer Williams all claimed individual titles for the Aztecs on the final day of the four-day meet, giving the team five individual championships overall.

Brown won the 100-meter hurdles in 13.37 seconds, which was the 10th-fastest time in program history. The victory came a day after Brown won the pole vault for the second straight year.

Thomas, meanwhile, claimed the triple jump title for the third consecutive year with a leap of 44 feet, 9 ½ inches (13.65m). Thomas, who beat out 17 other entrants in the event, finishes her career as a five-time outdoor champion (2012-14 triple jump, 2013 long jump, 2013 4x400 relay) and a four-time indoor champ (2012-14 triple jump, 2013 4x400 relay). She has also won each of the past two NCAA triple jump titles (2013 outdoor, 2014 indoor).

Williams was the final winner for SDSU, taking down the 200 title in 23.62 seconds, which was the eighth-fastest time in school history. Earlier in the day Williams was nipped at the finish line of the 100 in 11.51 seconds (No. 7 all-time at San Diego State), just 0.01 seconds back of Wyoming's Kereston Thomas (11.50). In the 200, Williams pulled away late to beat Thomas by 0.21 seconds (23.62 to 23.83).

"I didn't know who (won the 100) until I looked up at the scoreboard," Williams said. "I couldn't allow (Wyoming's Thomas) to win the 200 as well. I had to come back and redeem myself. I just wanted to go get the gold (medal)."

All three individual winners also helped out in the relays.

Brown, Williams, Allison Reaser and Thomas teamed up to take second in the 4x100-meter relay in 45.14, which was the ninth-fastest time in school history. Williams, Oudenaarden, Reaser and Thomas ended the day by taking sixth in the 4x400 in 3:47.47.

Oudenaarden, who won the heptathlon earlier in the week and was third in the long jump yesterday, finished third in the javelin today (144-05 (44.03m)) and tied for eighth in the high jump (5-05.00 (1.65m)).

Reaser, who took second in the heptathlon behind Oudenaarden, came in fourth in both the 100 hurdles (13.55) and 400 hurdles (59.96) today.

"I had a fun weekend," Reaser said. "I wanted to do my best in my senior year and I did that. We've come a long way since I was a freshman. To end my career with back-to-back championships is a great accomplishment. Our coaches give us great motivation and have confidence in us. Their positivity is contagious and that rubs off on the team."

Jasmine Burrell and Brittany Bozeman also scored for the Aztecs on the final day of the meet. Burrell was third in the shot put in 50-00.75 (15.26m) and Bozeman took fifth in the javelin (140-07 (42.84m)).

"I think we've improved tremendously as a team," Marianne Hogan said, a day after becoming the second SDSU athlete to ever score in the 10,000 at the MW Championships and the first since 2005. "The attitude has changed since I got here. It's nice when everyone shows up and does as well as they could have."

San Diego State, which had many athletes improve their marks this weekend, will compete at the NCAA West Regional Prelims in Fayetteville, Ark., from May 29-31.
