LOS ANGELES - The No. 17 San Diego State track and field team wrapped up its non-championship season Saturday at the Oxy Invitational in Los Angeles.
Sending a small contingent of athletes to the last chance qualifier, the Aztecs still put up six top-10 marks on the day.
In the field events, Rachel Alesi came in fourth in the shot put with a heave of 42 feet, 3 ½ inches (12.89 meters) and was sixth in the discus throw (152-07 (46.51m)).
Alexa Evans (158-11 (48.45m)) and Ariel Oliver (142-06 (43.43m)) came in fifth and ninth, respectively, in the discus, which was won by former SDSU athlete and NCAA champion Whitney Ashley (206-01 (62.82m)).
Freja Liljedahl, meanwhile, took seventh in the hammer throw at 161-07 (49.25m)).
On the track, Dynasty Gammage led the way by taking ninth out of 53 entrants in the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 9.83 seconds.
Rachel Roesgen had a good showing in the 1,500, taking 12th out of 36 in 4:38.43, while Grace Hanshaw (18th, 17:26.11) and Jessica McCall (31st, 17:58.94) each broke 18:00 in the 5,000 in race that started with 62 runners.
SDSU looks to defend its title at the Mountain West Championships in Laramie, Wyo., beginning Wednesday with the two-day heptathlon.
