SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State rowing team will conclude its regular season on Friday when it takes on crosstown foe, San Diego. The dual race will get underway at 7 a.m. on Mission Bay.

In preparation for SDSU's trip to the Conference USA regatta later this month, the two schools will utilize a 2 x 1500-meter race format for the participating boats.

"Having two shorter races will enable each crew to try out different race plans," said Aztec head coach Bill Zack. "It will also enable the coaches to change lineups and immediately see the impact on the boats. We are appreciative of the spirit and cooperation, including a friendly rivalry with the other Division I team in town."

The Aztecs are coming off a successful showing at the WIRA Championship regatta on April 26-27. SDSU picked up two medals, a silver and bronze, on the final day of racing. The varsity four crew took second place and the novice four boat finished in the third position.

After the showdown with the Toreros, San Diego State will travel to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to participate in the Conference USA Championships on May 17.
