CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - No. 16 San Diego State split two games at the Harvard Invitational on Sunday in Cambridge, Mass. SDSU beat Iona, 15-9, before falling to Michigan, 9-7, to put its record at 11-7.

The Aztecs tied a season high for goals in a period with six, not only once, but twice. In the first quarter, San Diego State put up a six-spot to take a 6-1 lead into the second period. In that frame, each team scored twice as the Aztecs carried an 8-3 lead into halftime.

SDSU duplicated its first-quarter effort with another six in the third quarter while only allowing Iona to score three times. In the final period with the outcome already decided, the Gaels outscored the Aztecs, 3-1, to provide the final six-goal margin for the west coast visitors.

Taylor Gums scored a career-high four goals in a winning effort for SDSU, with Nika Sedghi, Anique Hermann and Alyssa Diacono each scoring twice. Claire McKinnon, Frankie Libutti, Caroline Israels, Nikole Ferrari and Ioli Benekou, meanwhile, tickled the twine once.

In the final game of the tournament against Michigan, the Aztecs took an early 3-2 lead after one quarter, but let it slip away as the Wolverines outscored SDSU, 3-0, in the second to carry a 5-3 advantage into the mid-game break.

The second quarter proved costly for San Diego State as both teams scored four goals over the final 16 minutes in what turned out to be a 9-7 victory for Michigan.

The Aztecs return to action on Saturday, March 15, when they play host to the Aztec Invitational. SDSU will face Wagner at 10:30 a.m. PT, and Harvard at 4:45 p.m. PT.
