SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's rowing team heads north to take on UCLA on Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. PT at Ballona Creek in Marina Del Rey, Calif. It will be the Aztecs' first dual race of the season, which is also the first at SDSU for new head coach Bill Zack.

San Diego State will race four eights on Saturday, slightly different than the standard NCAA and conference format of two eights and a four, giving the Aztecs the greatest number of race opportunities. UCLA finished ninth as a team in the 2013 NCAA Championships.

Due to low tide on Ballona Creek, the two teams will only be able to race 1500 meters. The fourth eight will begin at 8:15 a.m., the third eight starts at 8:30 a.m., the second eight is set for 8:45 a.m. and the first eight gets going at 9 a.m. Afterward, the boats will compete in short sprint races against each other to complete the event, which will finish around 10 a.m.

The Aztecs will be based at the UCLA Marina Aquatic Center, located at 14001 Fiji Way, Marina Del Rey, Calif. There are spots for spectating along the bike path that parallels Ballona Creek, but there is no parking at the aquatic center. Free parking is available at Dock 52 and paid parking is available at Fisherman's Village.
