SAN DIEGO - No. 8 San Diego State rebounded from a tough loss earlier in the day to defeat No. 19 Hartwick, 15-7, in its second game of the UCSD Triton Invitational on Saturday. The Aztecs improve to 5-1 with the win, while the Hawks fall to 2-5.

Unlike Thursday's game with Hartwick, the Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead and nearly kept its lead for the entire first quarter until the Aztecs struck right before the buzzer sounded. Caroline Israels found the back of the net with five seconds remaining to cut SDSU's deficit in half heading to the second period.

Israels' goal set off a scoring spree for San Diego State as it received a pair of goals from Ioli Benekou in the first 1:13 to give the Aztecs a 3-2 lead. Hartwick tied the score only to have Israels score twice in a matter of 22 seconds to lift SDSU to a 5-3 lead. Then with 2:41 left in the half, Hartwick's Britt Tait scored to bring the Hawks to within one at intermission.

San Diego State put up another four spot in the third quarter with Nikole Ferrari and Benekou logging goals in the first 1:49. Ferrari added another goal nearly three minutes into the frame and Hartwick stopped scoring run with a Jemma Dandy Young goal with 1:51 left on the clock. The Aztecs increased their lead to 9-5 when Anique Hermann scored with 19 ticks left in the third.

SDSU continued to roll in the final eight minutes, outscoring Hartwick, 6-2, to provide the final margin. Hermann and Alyssa Diacono scored the first four goals of the quarter, each logging two apiece, and Israels and Carina Carballo rounded on the scoring with single tallies.

The Aztecs will continue action at the UCSD Triton Invitational on Sunday at 10:40 a.m. PT against No. 13 Indiana at Canyonview Pool.
