COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Twelve members of the San Diego State women's swimming and diving team have been named to the 2014 All-Mountain West team based on their performances at the recently completed MWC Swimming & Diving Championships held in San Antonio, Texas, last week.
To be placed on the all-conference team, an individual must place in the top eight in the finals of their event. For the relays, the all-conference team consists of the top three finishers in each race. SDSU won all five relays setting four Mountain West records in the process.
A total of 10 Aztec earned all-conference accolades in individual events while two others garnered the honor as a member of three winning relay teams.
SDSU swimmers won six individual events and in addition to the meet's five relay races. Individual winners included Anika Apostalon (50 free, 100 free, 100 back), Mikaela Macklin (200 IM), Laura Day (100 breaststroke) and Natilee Ruiz (200 backstroke).
