San Diego State swimmers and divers won 13 of 16 events Friday afternoon as they defeated TCU, 156.5-138.5, at the Horned Frogs' University Recreation Center Pool in Fort Worth, Texas. The competition was the Aztecs' first dual meet of the 2013-14 season while TCU saw its record fall to 1-2.

The meet began with SDSU taking first in the 200 medley relay with the team of Anika Apostalon, Chelsea Bailey, Loreen Whitfield and Maddy Dalcamo recording a time of 1:44.85. The race was the first of four first-place finishes in which Dalcamo and Apostalon were involved.

After her anchor leg performance in the 200 medley relay, Dalcamo went on to capture first in both the 50 free (23.94) and 100 free (52.41) races. She ended the day by swimming the anchor leg of SDSU's 400 free relay team that turned in the event's fastest time at 3:26.11.

Apostalon won both the 50 backstroke (26.29) and 100 backstroke (56.09) races and swam the leadoff leg of the winning 400 free relay that also included Savannah Miller and Whitney Weisz along with Dalcamo.

Junior Loreen Whitfield was a triple winner as she followed her effort in the 200 medley relay with first-place finishes in both the 50 butterfly (24.94) and 100 butterfly (55.89) events.

Aztec senior Mikaela Macklin was a double winner as she emerged victorious in the 200 individual medley (2:04.40) as well as the 400 IM (4:23.80).

Other first-place finishers for San Diego State included Caroline Mitchell in the 500 freestyle (5:03.51) and Frida Berggren in the 200 freestyle (1:52.80). Mitchell also placed second in the 200 individual medley (2:06.05) with a time that ranks as the 10th-fastest ever for an Aztec swimmer.

In the diving, sophomore Ashley Stott won the 3-meter board with a score of 312.00. That point total represented her personal best effort and ranks third on the all-time San Diego State diving list. Stott also placed third on the 1-meter board with a mark of 268.35 points.

The SDSU swimmers will next be in action during the weekend of Nov. 21-23 when they participate in the annual Arena Invitational to be held at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, Calif. The meet draws the top teams from the western U.S. and is one of the early season's top invitational events.

The Aztec divers will see their first multi-team action of the season that same weekend when they compete at the Arizona Diving Invitational Nov. 22.24. That meet is hosted by the University of Arizona at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center in Tucson, Ariz.
