SAN DIEGO - San Diego State football fans are invited to visit Aztec Village, the official pregame tailgate of SDSU Athletics and the Aztec Club. Presented by Wells Fargo, Aztec Village is a free, fun-filled event available to fans prior to the start of all six regular season home football games.
Festivities begin at 2 p.m. PT in section F1 of the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot for the home opener on Saturday, Aug. 31, against Eastern Illinois. Aztec Village will be teaming up with KGB as part of the KGB SkyShow activities on Saturday. For all other home games, Aztec Village will open two hours before kickoff.
Aztec Village will feature the Aztec Warrior Walk, which is the parade of the football team through the tailgates from parking lot E4 through Aztec Village in F1. It will begin approximately two hours before kickoff. There will also be music entertainment, a performance by the SDSU Marching Aztecs and Spirit Squads, as well as appearances by SDSU athletic teams. SDSU corporate sponsors will display products with chances to win prizes, in addition to inflatable games for young Aztec fans.
Each game will feature different food vendors at Aztec Village, starting with Ranchwood BBQ on Saturday. Aztec Shops will handle beer, wine and soft drink sales, while Dipping Dots and Cold Stone Creamery will also be available.
A new component this season will be food trucks prior to the Friday, Oct. 4 game against Nevada. In addition, a Beer Festival will take place before the Saturday, Nov. 23 game against Boise State. San Diego State football begins its 2013 season this Saturday against Eastern Illinois, beginning at 5 p.m. PT at Qualcomm Stadium. The game will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network, with play-by-play by Rich Cellini. A link to the broadcast can be found on the GoAztecs.com home page. In addition, the game can be heard on 105.7 The Walrus.
Tickets for the game and SkyShow are available at the Aztec Ticket Office at Qualcomm Stadium, located at Qualcomm Window "E." Season tickets and single-game tickets can also be purchased online through GoAztecs.com, or over the phone by calling (619) 283-7378.
The Aztecs return 17 starters from its 2012 team that finished 9-4 overall and 7-1 in Mountain West play, claimed its 19th conference championship in school history and played in a bowl game for a school-record third consecutive year.
