AUSTIN, Texas - The 16th-ranked San Diego State women's track and field team endured a six-hour-plus weather delay on day two of the NCAA West Region Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas, and ultimately completed all of its scheduled events.

In the 100-meter hurdles, SDSU only got one student-athlete, Kristen Brown, through to Saturday's quarterfinal round. The sophomore came in fourth place in Heat 1 with a time of 13.86 seconds, which was a top-six time outside of the 18 automatic qualifiers. Alex Evans, who also competed in Heat 1, crossed the finish line sixth and clocked in at 14.48. Allison Reaser, meanwhile, was a Heat 5 participant and logged a time of 14.09.

A day after qualifying for today's quarterfinals, LaQuisha Jackson could not duplicate her performance in the 100-meter dash to secure a spot in Eugene, Ore. Jackson posted a time of 11.78 to finish fifth in Heat 3 and 13th overall. The freshman missed out on Eugene by .01 seconds.

Later, Jackson returned to the track to compete in the 200 and finished in second place in Heat 5 with a time of 23.90, which automatically qualified her for Saturday's quarterfinals. Her time on the clock was the 12th-best among the 46-person field.

In the 400 hurdles, Deyna Roberson and Reaser were unable to punch their ticket to Oregon after turning the 18th- and 23rd-fastest times on Friday. Roberson finished the race in 59.78, while Reaser logged a time of 1:00.65, which was good for fifth and eighth place, respectively, in Heat 1.

Moving over to the field events, SDSU fell short in advancing in both the pole vault and discus throw. Kristen Brown tied for 18th in an event, the pole vault, where the top 12 move on to Eugene. The sophomore cleared 12 feet, 8 inches, and Karen Snapper was credited with no height. In the discus, Jasmine Burrell fouled and will not compete in Oregon in the event.

The Aztecs will open final-day action on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. PT.
