SEATTLE -

Kristen Brown won two events and Kelsy Hintz took second in the pole vault for the San Diego State track and field team at the UW Final Qualifier Friday night in Seattle.

Brown won the pole vault in 13 feet, 5 inches (4.09 meters) and the 60-meter hurdles in 8.40 seconds, but did not better her previous best marks of 13-10.00 and 8.28, respectively. Brown came into the meet ranked in a tie for 15th in the nation in the pole vault and in a tie for 24th in the 60 hurdles.

The top-16 declared athletes in the country in each event qualify for the NCAA Championships next weekend in Fayetteville, Ark.

Hintz, meanwhile, came in second in the pole vault in 12-11.00 (3.94m). She came into the weekend ranked in a tie for 32nd in the nation with a mark of 13-02.50 (4.03m).

Shanieka Thomas, who currently has the top triple jump mark (46-02.50 (14.08m) in the country, and Brown (pole vault) will await their fate to see if they qualified for the NCAA Championships. The final qualifying list will be posted on Sunday while declarations and the field announcement will be released on Monday. The meet will be contested over two days (Friday and Saturday) and will be hosted by the Univ. of Arkansas.

The rest of the team will kick off their outdoor season at the San Diego Collegiate Championships at UC San Diego on Saturday.
