SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego State captured 12 of 14 swimming races and both diving events en route to a 176-118 victory over the University of San Diego Saturday afternoon at the USD Sports Center. It marked the final dual meet of the 2012-13 season for the Aztecs, who finish with a record of 10-1 on the year.

SDSU opened the meet by taking three of the top for spots in the 200 medley relay with first place going to the foursome of Chelsea Bailey, Katelyn Weddle, Loreen Whitfield and Maddy Dalcamo in a time of 1:44.64.

Junior Mikaela Macklin led the way for San Diego State in the individual races as she recorded three first-place finishes. Macklin won the 100 and 200 backstroke events with times of 57.29 and 2:03.25 respectively. She came back later in the met to emerge victorious in the 200 individual medley with a mark of 2:05.60.

Senior Katelyn Weddle, after helping the Aztecs to win the opening relay, took first place in the 100 breaststroke in 1:0446 and made it a sweep of the stroke by winning the 200 breast with a mark of 2:20.55. Kelly Marquenie was also a double winner for SDSU as she captured both the 500 freestyle (4:59.18) and 1000 freestyle (10:10.33) races.

Other individual winners for the Aztecs included Chelsea Bailey in the 50 free (24.09), Maddy Dalcamo in the 100 free (52.34) and Gemma Johnson in the 100 butterfly (56.76).

The quartet of Johnson, Meghan Zimmer, Leona Jennings and Whitney Weisz capped off the afternoon by winning the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:28.64.

With the SDSU divers in Colorado this weekend for the Air Force Invitational, diving for the USD dual meet was held last week with results counting toward the scoring of today's competition.

On the 1-meter springboard, junior Anna Steiner's turned in the meet's high score of 317.30 while freshman Ashley Stott was just behind her at 312.90. Stott was victorious on the 3-meter board with a mark of 304.40 points.

San Diego State will now use the next three-plus weeks to prepare for the 2013 Mountain West Championships which will be held in San Antonio, Texas, during the period of Feb. 20-23.
