SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team is set to open its fall home schedule this weekend as it plays host to the Aztec Fall Invite from Oct. 5-7. The event will be at the Aztec Tennis Center and competition will get underway each day at 10 a.m.
The teams participating include University of Arizona, UCLA, USC, University of San Diego, Sacramento State, UC San Diego and Tulsa. Singles play begins first each day, followed by doubles action.
At 2 p.m. on Friday, an open event will take place with individuals playing unattached from a university against some of the top collegiate talent.
San Diego State had a great showing at last year's Invite as the duo of Shiva Sangwan and Andranik Khachatryan along with the pair of Thorsten Bertsch and Freddy Gelbrich were each named champions of their respective brackets. In black flight singles, meanwhile, Khachatryan defeated Jose Sierra Short to pick up another championship for the Aztecs.
