TULSA, Okla. - San Diego State men's tennis players Thorsten Bertsch and Hunter Nicholas continued their success at the ITA All-American on Sunday as they each picked up two wins apiece in pre-qualifying. Both will now advance to the qualifying round on Monday.
Nicholas was first to earn a victory for SDSU as he knocked off Texas A&M's Harrison Adams, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. Adams, a top recruit in the nation, advanced to the third round of the U.S. Open Junior Championships in New York earlier this fall. The Park City, Utah, native then earned a fourth round victory against Alejandro Augusto of Tennessee Tech University, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, to advance to a qualifying round matchup on Monday.
Bertsch then continued the Aztecs' success as he defeated Andre Vidaller of Arizona by the score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. In the fourth round, the Mannheim, Germany, native faced off with North Carolina's William Parker and won 6-4, 6-4, to advance to Monday's qualifying.
Derek Siddiqui, meanwhile, had a pre-qualifying bonus match against Tennessee Tech's Syrym Abdukhalikov and earned a 7-5, 6-2 victory.
