SAN DIEGO -

TRACK & FIELD RED & BLACK MEET INFO

The San Diego State track & field team will host its annual Red-Black Intrasquad All-Comers meet on Saturday, Dec. 1 on the Aztrack Sports Deck. The meet will be the second in the USATF San Diego-Imperial Association Winter Track Series.

The meet kicks off at 10 a.m. PT with the pole vault and high jump, while the running events get underway at 10:30 a.m. PT with the men and women's 4x-200 meter relays.

The annual meet splits the Aztecs into red and black teams that compete against each other in a dual-meet setting. Competition routinely goes down to the wire and is often decided by the relay, which includes the SDSU coaches, at the end of the day.

The Red-Black meet will include fully automatic timing (FAT) with wind readings for both sprints and horizontal jumps. The meet is USA Track & Field (USATF) certified and will be conducted using an "all-comers" format. Youth, high school, junior college, university (including SDSU students), alumni and master competitors of all ages are welcome to participate as unattached athletes, regardless of affiliation of ability. Throwers should bring their own implements.

Last year, 146 athletes competed in the meet, which consisted of 15 events. The "Black" came out on top over the "Red" team by a 53-74 margin.

"This meet is an outstanding opportunity for the campus and track and field community to get a taste of the Aztec track and field experience," head coach Shelia Burrell said. "SDSU is looking to improve on its top-10 finish from last year's NCAA outdoor championships. This meet is an excellent way for greater San Diego, the student body and especially alumni to meet, see and compete with our squad up close and personal, while having a lot of fun."

The entry fee for competitors is just $10 and covers unlimited events. Pre-registration is not required.

Spectator admission is free to the event.
