SAN DIEGO - San Diego State sophomore Allison Reaser wrapped up play in the heptathlon with a 15th place finish at the U.S. Track & Field Olympic Trials on Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

"The OT is a big stage to compete on where many of the world's best have competed alongside our SDSU athletes," head coach Shelia Burrell said. "I have had the opportunity to qualify for the games twice in my career. This is very intense competition."

Reaser finished the two-day event with a total of 5,612 points. The El Segundo, Calif., native was just two points behind 14th-place finisher Lindsay Schwartz of South Alabama. Hyleas Fountain (Nike) won the event with a total of 6,419 points to advance to the London Olympics. Sharon Day (Asics) and Chantae McMillan (unattached) also qualified as they both reached the Olympic "A" standard of 6,150 points with 2nd and 3rd place finishes, respectively.

Reaser began the second day of competition with the long jump, where she finished in 18th with a leap of 18 feet and 1/4 inches (5.49 meters). In the javelin, Reaser took 11th place with a throw of 120-10 (36.85m). She then closed the day with an 11th-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 16.54 seconds to set a new PR (previous best was 2:17.45).

"Reaser had a fantastic first day, but struggled in the long jump on day two," Burrell said. "Overall, she did a praiseworthy job of representing SDSU athletics. The future is bright."
