AZUSA, Calif. - San Diego State sophomore Allison Reaser set two personal-best marks on the first day of the heptathlon Wednesday at the Mt. SAC Multi's in Azusa, Calif.

Reaser is in eighth place after four of seven events with 3,258 points in the invitational field, less than 100 points behind third-place athlete Susan Coltman (3,328), who is competing unattached. Reaser also trails Wisconsin's Jessica Flax (3,312) by 54 points, unattached competitor Shana Woods (3,279) by 21 points, Azusa Pacific's Breanna Leslie (3,261) by three points and Wisconsin's Deanna Latham (3,259) by one point in the close-bunched group. Dorcas Akinniyi of Wisconsin leads the 14-person field with 3,502 points.

Reaser won two of the four events on the day with personal-best marks in each event. Reaser opened by winning the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.77 seconds. The 13.77 clocking beat runner-up finisher Leslie (13.88) by 0.11 seconds and just nicked her previous-best time of 13.78 set on March 31 in the preliminary heat at the Cal/Nevada Championships.

In the high jump, Reaser tied for 13th with a clear of 5 feet, 1 inch. It equaled her season-best mark and was two inches off her outdoor PR of 5-03.00 (March 18, 2011).

Reaser then finished 10th in the shot put with a heave of 37-00.50, her second-best mark of the season.

Reaser closed her day in style by winning the 200 in 24.27, 0.19 seconds faster than runner-up finisher Woods (24.46). The 24.27 clocking bettered her previous-best mark of 24.30 (June 23, 2011).

The final three events get underway at 1 p.m. PT Thursday with the long jump.
