LIVE RESULTS

Holly Waseloff, Kelsy Hintz and Heather Arseneau took first, second and third in the pole vault to lead the San Diego State track and field team Saturday on the first day of the Cal/Nevada Championships in Claremont, Calif.

The Aztecs sit in first place after six events with 60 points, 34 more than runner-up UC Riverside (26). NOTE: As of press time, the results from the 10,000 meters, featuring SDSU's Marianne Hogan, still hadn't been posted.

Waseloff cleared 12 feet, 7 ½ inches to win the event over 24 other entrants. It was a collegiate personal-best mark by 7.50 inches. Hintz and Arseneau each cleared 12-01.50 to take second and third, respectively. Additionally, Moriah Roberge (sixth, 11-07.50) and Rebecca Turnbow (ninth, 11-01.75) scored for San Diego State in the event.

The Aztecs also excelled in the long jump as Allison Reaser and Alex Evans finished first and second. Reaser beat out 24 others with a leap of 19-01.50. Evans was right behind in 19-01.25.

It was a busy day for Reaser, who also took 12th in the javelin (112-06) and advanced to Sunday's finals in both hurdle events. Reaser had the fastest time of the day in the 100 hurdles (13.78) and the second fastest in the 400 hurdles (60.46).

In the hammer throw, Whitney Ashley took third of 28 with a toss of 179-01, while teammate Ellie Fanaika was fifth in 170-04.

Josefine Koskinen advanced to tomorrow's final in the 800, clocking a 2:12.45 (seventh).

The shot put kicks things off for SDSU on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. PT, while the 4x400 relay ends the meet at 4:25 p.m. PT.
