AUBURN, Ala. - Senior diver Kristen Meier placed sixth in the consolation championship (14th overall) for platform diving at the recently completed 2012 NCAA Swimming and diving Championships held at Auburn University last weekend.Her effort garnered three points for her team and she earned honorable mention All-America honors as San Diego State finished 45th.

Meier, along with fellow diver Anna Steiner, were the lone Aztecs competing at the NCAA title meet.

In the platform diving prelims held on Saturday, March 17, , Meier's score of 243.65 qualified her for the 16-diver final round. She then scored 250.95 in the finals to finish 14th. Steiner finished 27th in the prelims with mark of 200.95.

In the one-meter springboard diving, held on Thursday (March 15), Steiner's score of 262.00 in the prelims placed her 32nd while Meier was 36th with a mark of 244.70. Results on the 3-meter springboard the following day were similar as Steiner (274.85) and Meier (265.55) placed 33rd and 38th respectively.

Meier, a senior from Walden, N.Y., and Steiner, a sophomore from Seattle, Wash., both earned all-Mountain West honors at all three boards at this year's conference championship meet.
