San Diego State divers dominated during day one of the Falcon Diving Invitational that got underway on Friday (Jan. 27) Air Force Academy at the in Colorado Springs. The Aztecs capture three of the top four places in the 1-meter springboard event and followed that up by capturing the top four places in the platform diving competition.

SDSU senior Kristen Meier took first place in the 1-meter diving with a score of 307.50 and alter won the platform competition with a mark of 239.55.

The 1-meter event featured eight competitors with UNLV, Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado also represented. San Diego State's other two entrants, Anna Steiner and Rafaella Suarez, finished third and fourth respectively.

Steiner's score of 280 .40 was the third-best point total ever by an Aztec diver while Suarez's score of 268.30 ranks fourth in the SDSU record book. Both of those marks, as well as Meier's, were good enough to qualify for the Zone E Meet in March.

In the platform diving, Meier's first-place finish was followed by Suarez (229.55) in second, Steiner (228.20) in third and Aina Eill (221.95) in fourth. Suarez and Eill set personal bests with their results and their scores go into the SDSU record book and the third and fourth-highest ever in the event. Meier's, Suarez's and Steiner's scores also qualified for the Zone E Meet.

Action at the Falcon Diving Invitational continues on Saturday, Jan. 28, with the women's 3-meter springboard competition schedule to get underway at noon (MT) at the Cadet Natatorium.
