SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State swimming and diving team posted a 61-49 victory over Tulane in an abbreviated program meet at the Aztec Aquaplex on Tuesday. With the win the Aztecs improved to 13-0 in dual meet competition this season.

Tuesday's program included races in the 100-yard distances of each stroke as well as a 100 individual medley. The divers also competed in both the one-meter and three-meter events as well.

SDSU opened the met by capturing the top three places in the 100 butterfly with Gemma Johnson (56.94), Mikaela Macklin (58.14) and Loreen Whitfield (58.23) finishing in that order. The Aztec repeated that feat in the 100 backstroke as Leona Jennings (57.93), Macklin (58.24) and Chelsea Bailey (59.94) took the top three places.

The 100 backstroke saw SDSU's Katelyn Weddle (1:04.92) take first place by three second over Kayla Alf-Huynh (1:08.43) of Tulane. Natalie Meltzer finished third for San Diego State in 1:08.89.

The Aztecs then went one-two in the 100 free with Kelly Marquenie (52.77) capturing first just ahead of teammate Stephanie Koch (52.88).

SDSU then swept the final swimming event with the trio of Jennings (58.49), Macklin (58.77) and Johnson (1:02.17) taking the top three spots in the 100 individual medley.

In the diving events, the threesome of Kristen Meier (306.38 and 331.95), Rafaella Suarez (272.93 and 259.65) and Anna Steiner (232.13 and 231.38) went 1-2-3 on both boards.

Up next for the Aztecs is a trip to Fresno where it will face Fresno State and Cal State Bakersfield in a double dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 14, at noon at the Fresno State Aquatics Center.
