COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State senior Kristen Meier has been named the Mountain West Diver of the Week for competition from Dec. 1-4. It was her third honor of the 2011-12 season and seventh of her career.
Meier, from Walden, N.Y., took first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events as the Aztecs defeated New Mexico, 153-138. Her score of 311.48 in the 1-meter ranks second in the league and set a record for SDSU's home facility, the Aztec Aquaplex. Her score was just .42 off her San Diego State record of 311.90 set at last February's conference championship meet.
Meier's 3-meter score of 331.43 ranks third among Mountain West diving scores this season. Both of her marks last weekend are NCAA Zone qualifying marks as well.
Meier will next compete at the USA Diving Winter National meet that gets underway on Thursday, Dec. 15, in Knoxville, Tenn.
