SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State swim team record a 147-113 win over visiting Cal Poly Saturday afternoon at the Aztec Aquaplex. Aztec swimmers captured 11 of the 14 events as Australian Kelly Marquenie turned in a pair of times qualifying her for her country's 2012 Olympic Trials.

The meet was conducted using the long course format with laps measuring 50 meters rather than the tradition 25 yards normally used in collegiate competitions. With the victory, SDSU improved to 8-0 in duals meets this season.

Two Aztecs picked up two wins apiece in the individual events. Sophomore Olivia Sefton recorded victories in both the 100 and 200 meter butterfly with times of 1:04.62 and 2:22.63 respectively. Teammate Stephanie Koch captured first place in the 50 meter free (27.11) and 100 meter free (58.70) races.

Koch was also on both of SDSU's winning relay teams. The 200 medley squad that also included Mikaela Macklin, Loreen Whitfield and Leona Jennings got the meet started by winning with a time of 2:01.64. The 200 free relay team of Koch, Jennings, Chelsea Bailey and Meghan Zimmer ended the day with a winning time of 1:50.42.

Marquenie, a sophomore from Gold Coast, won the 800 meter freestyle with a mark of 8:58.28 to meet the standard for Australia's Olympic trials. She later had a 200 meter freestyle spilt of 2:05.81 during the 400 meter free race that also qualified for the trials.

San Diego State's other individual event winners included Jennings in the 100 meter backstroke (1:06.42), Zimmer in the 200 meter freestyle (2:07.34), Macklin in the 200 individual medley (2:25.21) and Melanie Garibaldi in the 400 freestyle (4:29.77.

The Aztecs will now take a break for the holidays and return to the Aquaplex at the end of the month when they will host Nebraska in a training scrimmage on Friday, Dec. 30 at 2:00 p.m.

SDSU's next regular meet will be on Friday, Jan. 6, when it hosts a quadruple dual meet with TCU, Rice, Washington State and UC San Diego that is scheduled to get underway at 2:00 p.m. at the Aztec Aquaplex.
