SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego State men's tennis team continued play in the Aztec Fall Invitational on Saturday at the Aztec Tennis Center.
In doubles action, Hunter Nicholas and Jose Sierra Short defeated the USD duo of Emilio Mora and Andrew Carlisle by the score of 8-4. Shiva Sangwan and Andranik Khachatryan, meanwhile, were 8-3 winners against Fabio Biasion and Max Krammer of University of Denver. The Aztec duo of Thorsten Bertsch and Freddy Gelbrich picked up the 9-8 victory against Sacramento State's Javier Millan and Jonathan Hultkrantz.
In the black flight singles bracket, Sierra Short downed USD's Garrett Taylor, 6-4, 6-2. Bertsch, meanwhile, picked up the win against Alex Clinkenbeard of the Univeristy of Denver. Sierra Short and Bertsch then faced off, with Sierra Short getting the 6-2, 6-3 win. Khachatryan followed suit with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory against Hultkrantz and then defeated Othar Kordsachia of University of Denver, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
In the red flight bracket, Gelbrich dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to University of Denver's Jens Vorkefeld.
In the consolation singles black flight bracket, Sangwan defeated Angel Tavera of Point Loma Nazarene, 6-3, 6-2 before dropping a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Carlisle.
In the consolation red flight bracket, meanwhile, Nicholas dropped a 6-1, 6-4 decision to Mora.
The Aztec Fall Invitational wraps up play tomorrow at the Aztec Tennis Center.
