TOP DRAWER SOCCER FRESHMEN TOP 100

San Diego State men's soccer player Tyler Smith has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer Freshmen Top 100, the website announced today.

Smith is ranked 33rd on the initial list, just ahead of Virginia's Ryan Zinkhan and North Carolina State's Zabarle Kollie. A defender, Smith is one of just four Pac-12 players on the list and the second-ranked frosh in the league, behind No. 29 Seth Casiple of California.

In his first season on Montezuma Road, Smith has three goals and an assist for seven points. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native is fourth on the team in minutes (1,175), tied for fourth in goals and fifth in points. Smith leads all freshmen on the team in games played (14), games started (13), minutes, goals, points, shots (11) and shots on goal (5). Additionally, Smith leads the team with a 27.3 shot percentage (three goals on 11 shots).

The Aztecs (9-3-2, 3-2 Pac-12), who are ranked 20th in the latest College Soccer News poll, welcome Oregon State today (3 p.m. PT) and Washington Sunday (1 p.m. PT) for a pair of home games at SDSU Sports Deck. The Beavers (5-8-2, 3-3-1 Pac-12) have won two straight matches, while the Huskies (10-3-2, 5-2 Pac-12) have won five consecutive games and are ranked as high as No. 19 by Soccer America.
