SAN DIEGO - Former San Diego State women's water polo standout Ronni Gautschi is set to play professional water polo in Italy. The two-meter player will compete for Firenze Pallanuoto.

The Morgan Hill, Calif., native will play in against the top talent in Italy as Firenze Pallanuoto is in the league's top division.

Gautschi lettered four times at San Diego State and helped the Aztecs reach the NCAA Championship for the first time in school history in 2007 as a freshman. SDSU finished in fourth place that season before advancing to the 2008 NCAA Championship where the Aztecs finished in fifth place.

During her five-year career on Montezuma Mesa, San Diego State won a combined 124 games and finished in the top-9 in the final top-20 poll every season.
