SAN DIEGO - With weekend off from intercollegiate action, the San Diego State volleyball team will host its annual Alumni match on Saturday, Sept. 10. Action will get underway at 5:00 p.m. on Aztec Court in Peterson Gym. The event is open to the public free of charge.
Tentative plans call the Alumni to play a set amongst themselves before taking on this year's SDSU varsity squad.
Among the former Aztecs expected to be in attendance are All-America honorees Angela Rock, Mary Holland and Renate (Busch) Armstrong. Rock is a past member of the U.S. Olympic team while Holland was an all-tournament selection at the NCAA Final Four during her playing days at San Diego State.
Other alums in action will be former Mountain West Conference Player of the year Aspen McPartland along with three-time all-Western Athletic Conference selection Jennifer Miller.
The Aztecs enter the weekend with a 4-1 record after winning the season-opening Aztec Invitational and being declared co-champions at last weekend's Sugar Bowl Collegiate Classic in New Orleans. SDSU will resume its 2011 campaign next weekend when it travels to Chicago to participate in the DePaul Invitational.
