SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State football team has been projected to finish 2011 with a 10-2 overall record, published in an article on Monday by SI.com writer Stewart Mandel. The column provided an early outlook of the new head coaches this season and the 10-2 prediction for head coach Rocky Long was the best mark compared to the 23 others.
"Standout quarterback Ryan Lindley, running back and Mountain West freshman of the year Ronnie Hillman and four offensive line starters return from last year's breakthrough 9-4 team," Mandel wrote. "Look for the Aztecs to knock off TCU (Oct. 8) or Boise State (Nov. 19) when those teams visit San Diego."
Two Aztecs have also received some national media attention from SI.com, as Lindley (No. 7) and Hillman (No. 9) were named among the "Top 10 Non-BCS Players." Rivals.com, meanwhile, recognized Hillman as the No. 9 running back in their preseason list of top-20 running backs.
San Diego State is less than two weeks from kicking off its 2011 season with a matchup against Cal Poly at 7 p.m. PT on Sept. 3, at Qualcomm Stadium.
Season tickets, which have already surpassed totals from the past three seasons, remain on sale and start at just $66. Single-game tickets are also on sale and start at $11, except for the contest against Boise State. Tickets for the game against the Broncos start at $15.
Tickets can be purchased online through GoAztecs.com, over the phone by calling (619) 283-7378, or by visiting the Aztec Ticket Office at Qualcomm Stadium's Window "E." The ticket office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
