SAN DIEGO -

San Diego State Head Coach Rocky Long

On his assessment of the night:

"I have no idea. We played so many guys it's impossible to tell because you don't really get into a rhythm. I thought the energy was pretty good, the first-team offense and first-team defense looked like they were running around pretty good and the collisions were pretty good. I thought the more we put the young guys in there the softer it got, but you kind of expect that."

On whether he thought the defense dominated the scrimmage:

"I won't be able to tell you until I watch the film. Hopefully it meant that the defense played really good. I thought early on, the first-team defense was flying around and they showed a lot of speed and they were aggressive. Then you put some of the freshman in there and all of a sudden, things slow down and there are no big collisions anymore. Then you start asking what the heck is going on out there. It doesn't look like a real football game to me. Then you put the first team out there and it looks like a real football game."

On the play of redshirt freshman quarterback Adam Dingwell:

"What Adam gives you is some escapability and he's a good athlete that likes to run with the ball. He's hard to sack, he's hard to tackle. I thought he threw the ball decently, too. He's a young guy and he and Jake Bernards are competing for the backup spot right now. That'll be a film evaluation, too."

On when he'll evaluate film:

"It'll be tomorrow. Our players just lift weights tomorrow and then meet with us. So the coaches have all day to grade the film."

On the play of Ryan Lindley:

"It was kind of a mixed bag. He hit a big one to Gavin Escobar and he looked like he was in control. But at that time, I thought the defense was controlling the line of scrimmage."

Senior Quarterback Ryan Lindley

On the scrimmage:

"We got a lot of guys work (tonight). We're trying to get dialed in. We're out here in our home stadium and it's a good way to get ready for game week."

On what the offense needs to improve on:

"We need to work on some distances. We've had some really good plays that I am excited about. We've got some guys who can make some big plays. At the same time, we just need to work day in and day out."

On the offense and defense:

"We both know what's going on. We know the schemes. At the same time, they have a good group of guys back, but so do we. It's been a good competitive camp and it will continue that way and we'll be a good team come fall."

Senior Linebacker Miles Burris

On if he felt the defense won:

"I always like to think defense won, but we'll take a look at the film and see what the coach's saw."

On if the team is ready for its season opener vs. Cal Poly:

"We're not ready for Cal Poly yet. We have a lot to work on and a lot of things to fix when we check out the film. Tomorrow will be a big day to see what we need to take care of."

On getting to the quarterback:

"Getting to the quarterback is huge. A sack is always detrimental to the offense no matter when it is. It's a great thing about our defense because sometimes they don't know where and when we're coming from or if we're bluffing or if we're aren't."

Freshman Running Back De'Saan Hardwick

On scoring a touchdown:

"It felt amazing. I have to give it up to my offensive line. They were making holes and making it easy for me. I just have to give it up to them."

On playing at Qualcomm Stadium for the first time since his high school playing days:

"It felt great to be out here with my new family, to be an Aztec for the next four or five years. Being on this field, it's my new home field. It feels good to be an Aztec."

On the touchdown:

"I was reading my holes and the linemen were making nice holes, so I just bounced it outside. They created a nice lane for me."
