DES MOINES, Iowa - San Diego State freshman Allison Reaser finished the first day of the heptathlon in 21st place at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

Reaser has accumulated 3,106 points after four of the seven events and is trailing 20th-place Keia Pinnick of Arizona State by just 12 points (3,118). Kansas State's Ryann Krais leads the 24 participants with 3,585 points.

Reaser kicked things off in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.31 seconds, which put her in 18th after the first event. Reaser's best 100 hurdle time this season is 13.81. Reaser followed in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 0 ½ inches. Her best mark this season is 5-3.

In the shot put, Reaser's best throw of 35-8 ¾ came in her first attempt. It was the 18th-best mark of the group for Reaser, who came into the weekend with a best of 38-3 ¾. Reaser had her best showing of the day in the final event when she took sixth in the 200 with a time of 24.67. It was close to her fastest time (24.49) of 2011.

Reaser will wrap up the heptathlon on Friday with the long jump (4 p.m. CT), javelin (5:15 p.m. CT) and 800 (7:45 p.m. CT). Teammate Kelsy Hintz gets her championship meet underway in the pole vault at 5:25 p.m. CT.
