SAN DIEGO - San Diego State men's basketball forwards Kawhi Leonard and Malcolm Thomas are scheduled to attend the 2011 NBA Draft Combine, which starts today and ends Sunday, May 22. The five-day event is being held in Chicago, Ill.
SDSU is one of 10 Division I schools to have multiple players at the Combine. Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and Texas each have three players in Chicago, while the Aztecs, Georgia, Illinois, Purdue, Tennessee and UCLA are represented by two players apiece.
Television coverage of the NBA Draft Combine will be provided by NBA TV, ESPNU and ESPN3.com. Check your local listings for times.
Leonard, an All-American, and Thomas, an all-conference selection, helped the Aztecs complete a banner season in which they won a school-record 34 games, won their first-ever Division I NCAA postseason game and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. SDSU was ranked in the top 25 all season long and earned a program-best ranking of No. 4 during its MWC championship campaign. San Diego State finished the year ranked No. 6 in the Associated Press poll and No. 11 in the ESPN/USA Today rankings.
On Thursday, May 19, the San Diego Padres will honor the 2010-11 San Diego State men's basketball team prior to their game vs. the Milwaukee Brewers at PETCO Park. Senior team captain D.J. Gay will throw out the first pitch and will be joined on the field by members of the team and coaching staff.
