San Diego State freshman Allison Reaser won all three events on Thursday en route to capturing the heptathlon title at the 2011 Mountain West Conference Championships Thursday in Fort Collins, Colo.

Reaser finished the two-day heptathlon with 5,408 points, a healthy 437 points more than runner-up Brianna LeRoy of Utah (4,971). The 5,408 points were the sixth-highest total in school history and the most by an Aztec since 2003 (Leslie Miller - 5,602; Shanon Meyer - 5,481).

"I am very happy with my performance," Reaser said. "I wasn't happy with yesterday, so I came out today and just tried to win each event. I've never competed in (cold and rainy conditions), but I think it only made me stronger. It can only help in my preparation for nationals."

Reaser is now 3-for-3 in multi-event contests this year, taking the MWC indoor title in the pentathlon (school-record 3,916 points) in February, and the heptathlon at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational (5,361) in April and at this year's MWC outdoor championships (5,408).

Reaser won the long jump, javelin throw and the 800-meter run today, a day after taking the 100 hurdles and 200. Reaser began Thursday with a personal-best mark in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 9 ¾ inches. It was the seventh-best long jump in school history and the best by a SDSU athlete this season.

In the javelin, Reaser set another PR with a toss of 124-02. Her best throw this season coming into the weekend had been 115-10, set on April 30 at the Steve Scott Invitational.

Reaser ended her victorious day in the 800, clocking a time of 2 minutes, 27.69 seconds, more than two full seconds ahead of second-place finisher Morgan Griffin of Colorado State (2:29.81).

"I am so proud of how Allison came out today and just said, `I want to win each event," head coach Shelia Burrell said. "To do as well as she did under these conditions should motivate our team for the rest of the weekend. (Allison's) performance is going to set the tone for the level of competitiveness that we want to bring to the meet and into (NCAA) regionals and nationals."

Reaser's victory in the heptathlon gave San Diego State an early lead in the MWC championships with 10 points to Colorado State's nine. Utah is in third with eight points, followed by Brigham Young (5), TCU (4) and UNLV (3). The three other teams - Air Force, New Mexico and Wyoming - have yet to score a point and are tied for seventh.

Day three of the four-day MWC championship meet begins Friday with the hammer throw at 10 a.m. MT.
